Vanderbijlpark, suburb by suburb.

Board tripping? Geyser cold? Selling, and the attorney wants a CoC?

I'm Danie du Toit. I live and work in Vanderbijlpark, so this is my home ground. Tell me what's happening on WhatsApp, with a photo if you have one. A certificate, plug points, lights or a geyser element I can price from there. A fault has to be found on site, so that one is a R300 callout and a written price before any work starts.

What the houses here are like Iscor-era wiring, lettered blocks

I know your board before I see it.

This is the suburb page for Toit Electrical, the electrician in Vanderbijlpark. Most of Vanderbijlpark's older streets went up as Iscor housing between the 1950s and the 1970s, and that stock still carries rubber-insulated wiring, no earth leakage unit at all, and a board sized for a stove and a few lights — not for two fridges, a pool pump, an air fryer and four chargers. Those three things cause most of the calls I get in CE, CW and the SE blocks.

The town is laid out in lettered blocks — CE 1 to 4, CW 1 to 6, SE 1 to 8 and SW 1, 2 and 5 — plus Bonanne, Flora Gardens, Theoville and Lamont Park. I work in all of them, and I don't need a landmark to find you: give me the block and the street.

There is also more money worry in this town than there was two years ago, since ArcelorMittal wound down the Long Steel plant here. That is why I quote before I drive, tell you what can wait, and never open something up first and price it after.

Most homes around here still have no surge protection at the board. Here the power doesn't just go off — it comes back with a spike.
Why I look at the board on every job

Vanderbijlpark also sits inside the BXC smart-meter rollout, which has moved through CW4, CW5, Miami Sands, Powerville Park and neighbouring areas. Meter faults, vending faults and billing disputes belong to the municipality, not to me — but I will tell you for free which one you are looking at, so you phone the right people first.

Never let anyone "bypass" a meter for you. It is a criminal offence and it carries a heavy fine on top of that. I don't touch them, and nobody at your gate should offer to.
What Vanderbijlpark actually buys in the order they phone me

Most asked for
in this town.

Every job gets a written price before I start. A certificate, plug points, lights, a geyser element or fencing I can price on WhatsApp. A fault has to be found first, so that one gets priced after I’ve looked. The Certificate of Compliance is R3 000 for the first DB board, and additional boards are quoted.

The Vanderbijlpark police precinct recorded 379 house burglaries in the year to March 2026 — 156 fewer than the year before. Perimeter work is worth doing properly, not in a panic.

Getting to you and who to phone when it isn't your house

No travel charge.
I live here.

Vanderbijlpark is home base, so there is no travel add-on. A straightforward job I can price on WhatsApp for nothing. If the job needs me on site to diagnose, the callout is R300 here, and I waive it when you accept the quote. Whatever the job turns out to be, you get the price in writing before I start it. After hours and weekends are 1.5×, and you hear that before I leave home.

Check anyone you hire — including me. Phone the Department of Employment and Labour on 051 505 6371 and ask them to confirm registration number.

If the whole street is dark, nothing at your board will fix it — phone the number above that matches your supply. Then talk to me about surge protection at the board, because the damage usually happens when the power comes back.

Vanderbijlpark questions the ones I get every week

Before you phone.

Do you charge a callout to come to Vanderbijlpark?
No travel add-on — I live in this town. A straightforward job I can price on WhatsApp for nothing. If I have to come out and diagnose, the callout is R300, and I waive it when you accept the quote.
How do I book a slot in SE or CW?
Tell me what's happening and give me your block on WhatsApp. You get a written price for a straightforward job, or a R300 callout and a price on site if the fault has to be found first, and I tell you when I can come and then keep to it. I run one bakkie, not a call centre, so I won't take a booking I can't keep, and I message you when I leave. Burning smells and sparking get looked at before anything else.
My power is off — do I phone you or Emfuleni?
Look at the neighbours first. Streetlights and the whole street dark? That is on the supply side: phone 016 430 1612 for municipal-supply areas, or 0860 037 566 if you are Eskom-supplied. Blank prepaid meter or a vending problem? 016 931 0707, or the Vanderbijlpark meter office on 016 100 6170. Only your house dark, or one side of it? That one is mine — WhatsApp me a photo of the open board.
My house is from the Iscor days. Will it pass a CoC?
Often, but seldom without some work. The usual finds in this stock are a missing earth leakage unit, an earth that isn't continuous, rubber-insulated wiring gone hard, and a bathroom plug on the wrong circuit. The inspection comes first, then you get an itemised quote for whatever must be fixed to pass, separate from the certificate price, so you decide. No certificate is signed without the inspection and the tests actually being done. The certificate itself is R3 000 for the first DB board.
Praat jy Afrikaans?
Ja, natuurlik. Meer as die helfte van Vanderbijlpark se mense praat Afrikaans by die huis. WhatsApp of bel in Afrikaans of Engels — jy kry dieselfde reguit antwoord.
