Electrician in Vereeniging
House sold and the transfer is waiting on a CoC? Plugs dead on one side?
I'm Danie du Toit, based in Vanderbijlpark and in Vereeniging most weeks. Tell me what's happening on WhatsApp, or give me the address and how many DB boards the property has for a certificate, and you get a written price. A fault that has to be found is priced on site instead, after a R300 callout.
The town where the paperwork matters.
More of my Vereeniging work starts with an attorney or an estate agent than with a broken geyser. Houses here change hands steadily, and a transfer cannot go through on a Certificate of Compliance older than two years, or on one that ignores work done since. So the inspection gets booked and done properly, every circuit of it, and you get the certificate with its test report. I tell you when I can do it.
The suburbs I am in most are Duncanville, Arcon Park, Falcon Ridge, Peacehaven, Unitas Park, Sonlandpark, Bedworth Park, Leeuhof, Steel Park and the streets around Vereeniging Central. Three Rivers has its own page, because those houses need different things. Older Vereeniging stock throws up the same three problems again and again: no earth leakage unit, an earth that has gone open somewhere, and a board that has been added to five times by five different people.
There is small business work here too: shops, offices and workshops in and around the CBD. Three-phase or commercial property? Not a problem. Just tell me what the property is and I'll sort it out.
Vereeniging is a mixed town — I switch between Afrikaans and English all day. Use whichever you prefer.
A cheap certificate bought online without an inspection is the one that costs you the sale — the seller stays responsible for it.Why a real CoC can't be done at the gate
Vereeniging is also inside the Emfuleni smart-meter rollout, which has been extending into Peacehaven and the Vereeniging area. Around 70 meter bypasses have been recorded in Vereeniging alone. If you are buying a house, ask what the meter situation is — a bypassed meter carries a heavy fine for a homeowner and it is a criminal matter, and it is not something I can or will "sort out" at the board.

Every job gets a written price before I start. A certificate, plug points, lights, a geyser element or fencing I can price on WhatsApp. A fault has to be found first, so that one gets priced after I’ve looked. The Certificate of Compliance is R3 000 for the first DB board, and additional boards are quoted.
Certificate of Compliance
The Vereeniging job. A proper inspection and test of every circuit, certificate and test report. Repairs needed to pass are quoted separately, so the seller decides. Just tell me what the property is and I'll sort it out; it gets done properly.

Same town, same municipality, no travel add-on.
Vereeniging is the next town along from my base in Vanderbijlpark and it sits under the same municipality, so nothing changes: no travel charge and the same prices. A straightforward job I can price on WhatsApp for nothing. If I have to come out and diagnose, the callout is R300, and I waive it when you accept the quote. Whatever the job turns out to be, you get the price in writing before I start it. After hours and weekends are 1.5×, quoted before I leave.
For CoC bookings I like to know the suburb, the number of bedrooms and whether there is a pool, a borehole or an outbuilding. That is usually enough for an exact price by return message.
Outages still happen here, planned and unplanned, and that is why surge protection at the board earns its keep: the damage usually happens when the power comes back, not when it goes off.
